A little about ourselves

Living Waters is a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation that was started in 1984, by the Alvin and Ruth Boggs family to reach the Appalachian Mountain people through various ministries. We have been involved in a literacy program, as well as, operating an elementary school for twenty-seven years. We have been involved in helping the needy, the elderly and disabled. Because of lack of funds and low enrollment, the elementary school ceased operation in 2011.
Our focus today is a care ministry for widows, orphans, the disabled, and those struggling on a very meager income and living in poor conditions. As of today's date, we have served two hundred seventeen (217) people on a regular basis. We encourage them, take in food items, help with day-to-day needs, and share Jesus Christ with each family and offer to pray with them.

Handfuls of Purpose is a Biblical theme that we have adopted as a mission for what we are about at Living Waters.  The theme comes from the story of Ruth where widows were provided for in Boaz's fields.  Boaz told the workers, ...purposefully leave handfuls of grain for Ruth because of her faithfulness to care for her widowed mother-in-law.  Handfuls of Purpose is a commitment to care for widows, orphans, and the disabled.  (See Ruth 2:16)

Recent News - February Update

February is a month dedicated to show people how much they are loved.  However, many of those we minister to have been forgotten by their families and are hungry for compassion. During February, we are focused on sending a special Valentine to each of our shut-ins.
